Outreach at DEVCOM Soldier Center
Outreach is very important to our mission at DEVCOM Soldier Center. Not only do we get to engage with the next generation of minds to help them grow and learn, but they reciprocate with ideation that helps us see future possibilities in creating the next generation of Soldiers.
STEM
At DEVCOM Soldier Center we value the next generation and their potential to help us shape the world. Our engagement with local schools and communities allows young people to see the exciting ways we create technologies that enhance and protect our Soldiers.
WISE Challenge
WISE Challenge 2025 is scheduled for April 22-23, 2025
DEVCOM Soldier Center is proud to host the Warfighter Innovation in Science and Engineering (WISE) Challenge for the U.S. Service Academies April 22-23, 2025,
for the 5th year in a row.
The competition is about innovation, but it is also about the passion, dedication and collaborative spirit of our future leaders addressing complex real-world challenges. Of course, we won’t forget the tad bit of Service rivalry in the mix.
The Warfighter Innovation in Science & Engineering (WISE) Challenge is an annual Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) competition sponsored by the DEVCOM Soldier Center. This competition offers the opportunity for Cadets and Midshipmen from all five U.S. Service Academies to showcase their innovative science and engineering achievements aligned with Warfighter and Service relevant problems. WISE was conceived by the DEVCOM Soldier Center and the USMA at West Point in 2020 and further developed with input from the Academies. In 2021, WISE was approved by DASA(R&T) as a STEM event under 10 USC 2192., the focus is on innovative approaches or technologies that offer potential operational impact to either Service-specific or joint mission areas. From the Soldier Center’s perspective, our Service Academy partnerships have consistently supplemented our work with fresh ideas, offering innovative approaches that can be adapted or transitioned to ongoing efforts or to even jump start new programs. I am really excited to see all of the ideas that come from this competition.
